Scene 1 – The Thirsty Plants

Next door to Dr. Zaptain’s lab, their neighbor Mrs. Bloom was gently watering her plants.

Nova leaned on the fence, watching the water disappear into the soil.

Nova: “You water them every day.”

Mrs. Bloom smiled.

Mrs. Bloom: “Of course. They need to drink.”

Nova tilted her head slightly.

Nova: “But… how does the water get all the way to the top?”

Mrs. Bloom paused.

Mrs. Bloom: “Well… I suppose it just goes up.”

Milo looked at the tall plant nearby.

Milo: “That’s a long way to go.”

Dr. Zaptain stepped closer, observing the leaves.

Dr. Zaptain: “An excellent question, Nova.”

Mrs. Bloom looked curious now.

Mrs. Bloom: “Yes… I’ve never really thought about it.”
