When their neighbor Mrs. Bloom wonders how water travels through her plants, Nova and Dr. Zaptain take a closer look. A simple experiment reveals that water can move upward inside tiny tubes. What looks

The kitchen table was covered with a bowl of water, a glass, and a small piece of paper.
Milo picked up the paper and held it over the bowl.
Milo: “Paper plus water equals wet paper. That’s just science.”
Nova leaned on the table and smiled slightly.
Nova: “Always?”
Milo paused.
Milo: “Well… yeah.”
Dr. Zaptain stood nearby, watching calmly.
Dr. Zaptain: “Then let’s test that idea.”
Milo rolled the paper into a small ball and pushed it into the bottom of the glass.
Milo: “This is going to be very predictable.”
He turned the glass upside down and held it carefully above the water.
Nova watched closely.
Nova: “Don’t tilt it.”
Milo lowered the glass straight into the bowl.
He slowly pulled the glass back out.
He looked inside… and froze.
Milo: “Wait… what?”
He reached in and took out the paper.
It was completely dry.
Milo: “That… was not supposed to happen.”
