Scene 1 – Mrs. Bloom’s Tears

The warm afternoon sun filled Mrs. Bloom’s garden with the smell of herbs and flowers.

Nova and Milo followed a delicious smell coming from a small outdoor kitchen beside her patio.

Mrs. Bloom stood at a wooden table surrounded by vegetables, humming happily as she prepared a large pot of soup.

Milo: “That smells amazing.”

Mrs. Bloom smiled.

Mrs. Bloom: “My famous garden vegetable soup.”

Then Milo noticed something strange.

Mrs. Bloom’s eyes were watering.

Milo: “Mrs. Bloom! Are you crying?”

Mrs. Bloom looked down at the onion in her hand.

Mrs. Bloom: “Only because these onions are being extremely rude today.”

Nova looked closer.

Nova: “How can a vegetable make someone cry?”

Mrs. Bloom held up the onion.

Mrs. Bloom: “That is an excellent question.”
